EDITOR’S NOTE: In this edition, #IslandsCaribbean examines the Caribbean’s response to the emergence of COVID-19 variants. In the case of overseas territories of the European Union, border closures have been debated, and effected in the case of French overseas territories. Cayman Islands, a British overseas territory, has decided not to reopen its borders, previously scheduled for March. Otherwise, Jamaica banned arrivals from the United Kingdom from as early as December. And, Saint Vincent’s opposition is presently agitating for closure of its borders.
