EDITOR’S NOTE: In this edition, #EduCaribbean explores education funding beyond government subvention. The most significant example is corporate social responsibility, by ExxonMobil and its partners, CNOCC/Nexen and Hess Corp, in Guyana. The other examples are taken from Jamaica: public equity for iCreate Institute; USAID funding for Jamaica Association for the Deaf; and philanthropy from now deceased, US business-woman, Christel Dehaan, and from Sandals Foundation for scholarship, in honour of their former executive chairman, Gordon “Butch” Stewart.
