HealthCaribbean Weekend ed. 2021-02-18

by | Feb 11, 2021

EDITOR’S NOTE: In the last #HealthCaribbean Weekday edition, it was noted that the South African #COVID19 #Variant had been found in Cuba. In this edition, we further examine the presence of variants in the Caribbean. The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) advises that three variants are of concern to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM): The South African, Brazilian, and U,K. strains, more so the latter. It should be noted that this is also the case in the non-CARICOM states of Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. But, Guyana shares a border with Brazil, so this state has to be particularly vigilant.
