EDITOR’S NOTE: As the current pandemic lingers, the financing of education becomes challenging. In this issue, #EduCaribbean looks at the experience of students in financing their education during this pandemic.

For some like 19-year-old Crystina Perkins, Winsome Gibbs and Mark Brown, scholarships are a viable option. However, Institutions like the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona Campus have been forced to shelf $1 billion in scholarships and grants this academic year as most classes move online.

If parents are unable to assist, then loans are available. In the case of the Dominican Republic, this may even involve secondary school students working on the streets.
