EDITOR’S NOTE: Following on last week’s issue on Healthcare in Jamaica, #HealthCaribbean will, this week, focus on Healthcare in the Cayman Islands. Like Jamaica, a new Medical Tourism Hospital has also been proposed, though this one will specialise in treating cancer and offering neo-natal intensive care.

Otherwise, the pandemic has had undesirable effects on the healthcare system, which will be explained. But, additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have arrived on the island, and administration of the second dose of the vaccine has begun. Cayman has even declined its first tranche of vaccines under the COVAX facility so that it could be redirected to countries in greater need.
