EDITOR’S NOTE: In the previous issue, #InfrastruCaribe concluded a series on transport. In this issue, we commence a series on Utilities. More specifically we will be looking at Water and Sewage systems in three locations, namely: the Dominican Republic, The Bahamas, and Jamaica.

We feature two dams that are to be constructed in the Dominican Republic. The first, the Monte Grande dam, is to be constructed in La Mina, Azua, and is scheduled to be completed by 16 August 2022. The second is to be constructed in Guayubín (northwest), and is scheduled to be completed by February 2023.

For Bahamas, we present the signing of a MOU with Israeli company IsraAID for work under their Sustainable Groundwater Management Project (SGMP) on the island of Abaco. And, construction of a 3 Million Gal. reverse osmosis water facility on the island of Grand Bahama.

Then for Jamaica, cabinet has approved two contracts: the larger for construction of a sewage treatment plant at Perth Housing Development, Manchester, and the other for improvement of sewerage along some roads in the Kingston Metropolitan area. Finally, the National Water Commission will be improving water supply to the town of Mandeville, Manchester.
