EDITOR’S NOTE: In last week’s issue, #IslandsCaribbean Weekend took a look at developments in the smaller Caribbean islands. In this issue, we conclude our look at these developments. Five developments are presented on four islands, namely: The Cayman Islands, Aruba, Sint Maarten, and Saint Lucia.
We feature the Cayman Islands which had closed its borders from the onset of the pandemic, had announced a possible March reopening, but is now contemplating a date in April/May, based on the rate of its vaccination against COVID-19. Otherwise, new resort developments are to be opened on the three remaining islands.
Aruba will have two different resort renovations located on Palm Beach: the recently completed Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino; and the Radisson Blu Aruba, which is scheduled for reopening mid-April. Otherwise, two new resorts are to be completed, one on each of the remaining islands.
The Morgan Resort is being built in Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten, and is scheduled to be opened in April. The SoCo House is being built in Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia, and is scheduled to be opened on 1 May. It should therefore be evident that developments continue unabated in the smaller Caribbean islands.
