EDITOR’S NOTE: As we begin the month of March, #IslandsCaribbean revisits the now familiar topic of #DigitalNomads, which we have been covering since the early days of the pandemic. Barbados was the first Caribbean island to offer such a facility, so we have included two articles that chronicle the Barbadian experience of digital nomads from two different cultures: Hong Kong and Britain.
Notwithstanding, our feature story is from Bermuda, which also has a Digital Nomad facility, but has now elected to go a step further into a full-fledged Citizen by Investment (#CBI) scheme, which is also available on a number of other Caribbean islands, some also offering a digital nomad facility. It is not yet clear how theirs compare to the other more established schemes.
Finally, we have included two articles that list Caribbean nations that offer digital nomad facilities and explain each offering: both have nine locations, with some degree of overlap between them. While vaccination is underway in the markets of these countries, it is still too early to tell how this will affect the demand for their respective offerings.
