EDITOR’S NOTE: As the COVID-19 pandemic continues across the Caribbean, regional secondary examinations in the English-speaking Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has been of particular concern: so much so that education ministers met as the Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD) to discuss this matter.
#EduCaribbean dedicates this issue to disclosing their decision coming out of that meeting, other available certification pathways, and would like to emphasize that, where face-to-face classes have been suspended across most grades, those of grades 6, 11, 12 or 13 have generally been exempted.
In our lead story, it is revealed that the 2021 examinations will revert to their original format, and will be administered from June to July, then results will be released in the last week of September. Dr Douglas Slater, assistant secretary general of COHSOD also informed that the decision was unanimous.
