EDITOR’S NOTE: In this issue, #InfrastruCaribe concludes its series on utilities, that was started towards the end of February, with a look at Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Caribbean. This takes us to four locations: Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Cuba, and Guyana; and, we also look on progress towards a “single ICT space”.

An article from the Jamaica Observer titled “Itelbpo Builds COVID-19-Designed Contact Centres In Jamaica, St Lucia” is our headline. ItelBPO has headquarters in Jamaica is one of the Caribbean’s largest Business Process Outsourcing firms, in what is now commonly referred to as the Global Services Sector.

The “single ICT space” was conceptualized by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and was scheduled for completion this year. But according to the ICT Pulse, the project is behind schedule with no new deadline being publicly announced. It is a key component of the “Regional Digital Development Strategy”.

The three remaining articles deal with developments in Cuba and Guyana. The article from the Cuba Business Report speaks of Cuba’s effort to encourage foreign direct investment in telecommunication. The remaining two articles addresses developments in Guyana with regard to their target oil industry, and unserved communities.
