EDITOR’S NOTE: In this issue, #IslandsCaribbean takes a look at developments in the hospitality sector since our last look about the middle of February. Four islands are covered this time: Jamaica, Barbados, Aruba, and the Cayman Islands. Five developments are involved: two in Jamaica and one from each of the other islands.
Our headline is taken from Jamaica Information Service, titled: “Partners Ready To Commence Harmony Cove Tourism Development Project In Trelawny”. Harmony Cove is a public private partnership, set on a 2,300-acre property, just outside Montego Bay, It has been around for a long time but seems to be going ahead this time around.
The second development in Jamaica is actually a follow-up from our last newsletter on the topic. The title is self-explanatory: “Marriott strikes all-inclusive deal with Sunwing – Four Royaltons in Jamaica to be rebranded as premium Autograph Collection”. The Hotel Indigo in Cayman is another follow-up. With approval in hand, the project can now be constructed.
The remaining two developments are: Sandals Royal Barbados, and Radisson Blu in Aruba. The former is a 66-suite South Seas Village wing extension to open on 1st July. The latter is the Caribbean’s only Radisson Blu, although Radisson Blu is actually returning to Aruba. They are scheduled to open on Palm Beach, 2nd April.
