EDITOR’S NOTE: Back in February, edition 2021-02-11 examined education in Guyana. #EduCaribbean re-visits the topic in this issue. Whereas February’s newsletter was dominated by news about the University of Guyana, this issue is dominated by news about the secondary school system.
However, edition 2021-03-22 which focuses on the use of technology in education carries a couple articles on exciting developments at the University of Guyana. #InfrastruCaribe Weekday ed. 2021-03-30 also carried news on new schools under construction. It is advisable that these be consulted for additional information.
Our headline taken from the Guyana Times reads: “India offers fully-funded scholarships to Guyanese”. It speaks to 9 scholarships for undergraduate, post-graduate, or post-doctoral research courses being made available under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations Scholarship Scheme 2021-2022.
Face-to-face classes have been suspended and resumption depends on the success of their government’s vaccination programme. The two remaining articles each describe an individual project being undertaken by separate schools: one for fully digital delivery and the other a climate-smart pilot for food security.
