EDITOR’S NOTE: In edition 2021-03-19, #InfrastruCaribe commenced a series on Social Infrastructure. In this edition of the newsletter, we conclude that series with a look at infrastructure for security services in the Caribbean. Four of our five articles come from Jamaica, and the other article is from Jamaica.
Our headline taken from the Jamaica Observer reads: “Gov’t Spends Billions On Security Forces’ Capabilities”. It speaks to the budgetary allocation made for Jamaica’s Ministry of National Security in the 2021/2022 financial year with projections for years to come. The articles on the divisional headquarters and forensic suite are related.
The Security minister gives a status report on the proposed prison in the Youtube video, where he advises that the project will be implemented as a public-private-partnership, The remaining article speaks to the completion of a Police regional headquarters in Guyana and the awaited formal handover to the Police.
