EDITOR’S NOTE: Back in January, #IslandsCaribbean took a look at the Dominican Republic in edition 2021-01-29. This newsletter re-visits that destination. This comes at the end of what is reported to have been a very successful Easter for the destination. And, the Dominican Republic has even started attracting remote workers to its shores.

Our headline, taken from the Caribbean Journal, reads: “Vin Diesel Is Developing A Movie Studio In The Dominican Republic”. Vin Diesel’s company — One Race Films — has signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of the Dominican Republic on a project which involves the establishment of a film studio on Bergantin Beach.

The four remaining articles cover the current entry/exit requirements, restrictions, free health insurance, and an analysis of the Easter period. According to social media posts from the tourism minister: “We continue to be a benchmark in the region”. All effort is being made to restore normal employment in the sector.
