EDITOR’S NOTE: Early in April, #IslandsCaribbean featured new construction and renovations of Caribbean resorts in our edition 2021-04-16. This newsletter does the same. Four separate destinations are covered, namely: U.S. Virgin Islands, Barbados, Belize, and Aruba. Each is presented in its individual article. The fifth article covers more destinations collectively.
Our headline, taken from the Caribbean Journal, reads: “A New Adults-Only All-Inclusive in St Croix”. The 196-room Divi Carina Bay all-inclusive resort was damaged during the passing of Hurricane Maria in 2017 but has been “completely redesigned”. And, it is scheduled to be reopened in October 2021 as the only adults-only all-inclusive property in the US Virgin Islands.
Marriott Resorts has remodeled two Elegant Hotels in Barbados, which will also reopen as adults-only, all-Inclusives in April and May respectively. Other resorts from Ritz-Carlton, Strand, Ocean, and Sandals which are either newly constructed or renovated are also scheduled for opening before the summer quarter.
The Radisson Blu brand which had left the Caribbean in 2014 has now comeback with the recent opening of its only property, in Aruba. This is also the first new resort built in Aruba in many years. Finally, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts has announced the opening of its new, private-island Turtle Island Beach Resort In Belize, which can only be accessed via boat.
