IslandsCaribbean Weekday ed. 2021-06-01

by | May 25, 2021

EDITOR’S NOTE: Approaching the middle of March, #IslandsCaribbean featured Caribbean attractions in our edition 2021-03-16. This newsletter does the same. Three Caribbean countries are covered, namely: The Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica. Jamaica has three of our five articles. Each of the other countries have one article apiece.

Our headline, taken from the Tribune, reads: “Baha Mar’s $200m Water Park Eyes July 2 Opening”. Baha Mar’s beachfront water park, set in its 15-acre Baha Bay property, will feature 24 water slides, an action river, group raft rides, a “dueling” water coaster, a wave pool, and surf simulator; and, will be open “exclusively” to its guests.

Puerto Rico’s TOROVERDE Adventure Park now holds the official Guinness World Record for the longest bicycle zip wire, called the ToroBike, which is 322.25 meters long. And, A virtual opening ceremony was held in Jamaica for the Harmony Beach Park, in Montego Bay on 21st May, with the Prime Minister — the Most Hon. Andrew Holness — delivering the keynote address.

Otherwise in Jamaica, Dolphin Cove Limited experienced a 71 percent decline in revenue for their marine park for the financial year ending 31st December 2020; which resulted in a net loss of US$1.1 million as compared to a net profit of US$1.61 million in the previous financial year. So, the company has secured a US$1 million line of credit for working capital.
