by | May 31, 2021

EDITOR’S NOTE: At the end of April, #eduCaribbean featured Guyana in our edition 2021-05-06. We do that again in this newsletter. Three of our five articles are on higher education, and two about the University of Guyana specifically. The remaining articles are on high schools in general. As usual, more information is posted on our Twitter feed.

Our headline, taken from the Newsroom Guyana, reads: “UG Launches Professional Executive Training Courses In Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy”. The University of Guyana’s (UG’s) Institute of Energy Diplomacy has launched of a suite of Executive Level Professional Courses in Oil and Gas and Renewable Energy that will be delivered online starting June 2021.

UG is also local organizing partner for the Caribbean Studies Association’s 45th Annual Conference which will be held virtually, and in Guyana for the first time, from May 31 – June 4, 2021. And, teachers in public schools who gain scholarships under the government’s free online scholarship initiative and successfully complete its programmes and courses will be rewarded.

The Ministry of Education also launched its Quiz Me Platform, which provides examination-quality, multiple-choice examination questions for students to prepare for their exams. Finally, schools will remain closed, on the advise of the Ministry of Health, for the rest of the academic year and should reopen for the 2021/2022 academic year in September.
