Our headline, taken from Reuters’ website, reads: “U.S. To Detail Global Distribution Plan For 80 Mln Vaccine Doses”. In the next two weeks, the administration of U.S. President, Joe Biden, will announce its plans to distribute 80 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine it had pledged globally. The United States is committed to an equitable distribution of these vaccines.
In his virtual address to the United Nations High-Level Roundtable on Extractive Industries, the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, and sitting CARICOM chairman — Rt. Hon. Dr Kieth Rowley — said a key component in the joint offensive against COVID-19 is to ensure equitable and fair access to vaccines, especially for small island developing states.
In Barbados, Prime Minister — Rt. Hon. Mia Mottley — called for a global summit to coordinate efforts at containing the pandemic. And in Jamaica, Prime Minister — Rt. Hon. Andrew Holness — called for greater access to vaccines by the Caribbean and Africa. Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago received a shipment of 10,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from Grenada.
