EDITOR’S NOTE: At the end of March, #eduCaribbean featured achievements by Caribbean people, in our edition 2021-04-05. We do that again in this newsletter. Three Caribbean countries are covered, namely: Jamaica, Haiti, and Guyana. Jamaica and Haiti have two articles apiece, and Guyana one. Our headline, taken from the Jamaica Gleaner, reads: “NCU Professor Awarded Musgrave Silver Medal”. The Council of the Institute of Jamaica has awarded Northern Caribbean University’s (NCU) professor of environmental chemistry and applied climatology — Professor Mark Harris — the Silver Musgrave Medal for outstanding merit in the field of science.

P4H — a non-profit organization working to improve education in Haiti — has honoring 10 departmental laureates who have significantly contributed to improving the quality education in Haiti. And, the University of Ottawa offers “Firmin-Monestine” scholarships to its Haitian students from the Outaouais community, or having graduated from high schools in Mattawa.

Jamaican Sashauna Perkins has been awarded a £20,000 full-scholarship to study at Swansea University in the United Kingdom. And finally, the Caribbean Examinations Council has recognised the Queen’s College in Guyana as the School of the Year for the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE).
