EDITOR’S NOTE: Towards the end of April, #IslandsCaribbean featured Sandals Resorts International, in our edition 2021-04-30. We do the same again in this newsletter. Three Caribbean destinations are covered, namely: Jamaica, Barbados, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. See our new Twitter page (@IslandsC_bean) for more content.
Our headline, taken from Travel Pulse, reads: “Sandals’ Massive Jamaica Expansion Displays Caribbean Travel Confidence”. Sandals Resorts International’s planned expansion of its all-inclusive portfolio across Jamaica, as outlined in their May 26 groundbreaking ceremony, indicates their confidence in the Caribbean as a destination following a global travel shutdown.
When Sandals’ announced the reopening of their two Barbados hotels, this was the first time, since the global pandemic, that all “Sandals” and “Beaches” branded Resorts were once again open for booking. Come July 1, Sandals’ “stay at one, play at two” exchange program will allow guests of Sandals Royal Barbados to also have access to the Sandals Barbados.
In St. Vincent and the Grenadines, more than 1,300 persons responded to Sandals’ recruitment drive last month as it prepares to introduce its Beaches resort brand to that nation. Finally, research by the American Society of Travel Advisors, in collaboration with Sandals’, revealed “a strong increase in overall demand for travel” and a return to “the experts for advice”.
