Our headline, taken from the Jamaica Gleaner, reads: “Cuba, Argentina and A Vaccine for the Americas”. A letter of intent has been signed between the health departments of Cuba and Argentina that could lead to the joint production, in Argentina, of some of the vaccines Cuba has so far developed against COVID-19.
That letter of intent not only includes collaboration in the Cuban COVID-19 vaccines but also vaccination plans in Cuba, Argentina, and other nations in the Latin-American region. Cuba has even begun phases I and II clinical trials of its Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus Covid-19 vaccines on children and teenagers respectively.
Outside the region, Cuba and Kenya have signed agreements for provision of health care services, as well as the training and educating of Kenyan doctors. Finally, the last of the Cuban Henry Reeve medical brigade have returned to Cuba after completing their support of the Kuwait authorities in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
