IslandsCaribbean, Weekend ed. 2021-07-02

by | Jun 25, 2021

EDITOR’S NOTE: #IslandsCaribbean features the Neatherland Antilles in this newsletter. Four destinations are covered, namely: Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Saba, and Curacao. Two of our five articles are on Sint Maarten, and the others have one apiece. Please see our new Twitter feed (@IslandsC_bean) for additional content.

Our headline, taken from Travel Agent Central, reads: “Introducing The Morgan Resort & Spa, St. Maarten’s Newest Hotel”. This resort has 124 ultra-modern guestrooms and suites: each with its private exterior entrance, balcony or terrace. So, guests can watch aircrafts desend into the runway of the Princess Juliana Airport — “the most photographed airport in the world”.

And, Hilton Resort’s Caribbean portfolio has expanded into Curaçao, with the conversion of the former Corendon Mangrove Beach Resort into the new all-inclusive Mangrove Beach Corendon Curaçao Resort — a Curio Collection by Hilton resort — which is scheduled to be opened in September 2021.

For the first time in 15 months, Bonaire is again open to flights by American carriers. And, the greater majority of resort properties and restaurants are open for business. Another Dutch Caribbean island — Saba — reopened its borders on 1 May 2021 and lifted its quarantine requirements for visitors that are fully vaccinated.
