EDITOR’S NOTE: In the past three editions, #InfrastruCaribe has been looking at various forms of social infrastructure in the Caribbean. In this edition, we conclude this series by looking at housing.
We present developments in three of the larger Caribbean states: Puerto Rico, Guyana and Jamaica. In the case of Puerto Rico, the works will be towards rehabilitation of existing housing stock and associated infrastructure as part of their hurricane restoration and preparedness effort.
In Guyana, works at this time will be to construct associated infrastructure, with construction of housing solutions to follow. In Jamaica, one scheme is presently under construction which is to provide 1,650 housing solutions. Otherwise,114 other projects are proposed under a National Social Housing Programme.
